80 million dollars has been approved by parliament for the phase two project of the Tamale airport.
The commercial aggreement being secured from Queiroz Galvao constructions UK will enable the airport to handle international air operations.
The MP for Adaklu Kwame Governs Agbodza said studies had shown that Ghana needs an alternative airport to Kotoka International Airport.
He said the position of Tamale makes it conduisive to attract air traffic.
He said the vision is to transform the Tamale into an aviation hub.
The MP for New Juabeng south, Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah said expanding the Tamale airport at this time will not make economic sense.
