Parliament Approves 92 Million Dollar Facility For Electrification Projects in Ghana

Five hundred and 56 communities in the Eastern, Volta and Northern regions are to be electrified following the approval of a 92 million dollar facility by parliament.

The commercial agreement is between government and China Human construction engineering group.

The amount will be used to supply and erect electrical materials and equipment for the project.

The Deputy Minister for Power, John Jinapor told Parliament the contracts sum was reduced by 9 million dollars after a value for money audit.

The Minority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu whiles, commending government on saving the country 70 million dollars due to its due diligence, called on it to be careful about the team it puts together to negotiates for contracts.

He raised reservation about the involvement of SMARTHYS Production in the contract.

The Deputy Majority Leader Alfred Agbesi commended the Finance committee of Parliament on its work.

He said the purpose of the loan was worth it.
