Parading Ministers before Ouattara Disgusting – Osman Rahim Hassan

The President of Finder’s Forum, Osman Rahim Hassan has described as disgusting the move by President Akufo Addo to compel all his Ministers of State to line up to welcome Alhassan Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire.

‘’Ghana should not be parading its Minister before Alhassan Ouattara – who is he? I’m sorry but it shouldn’t go this way, it does not paint a good picture about us as a country’’, he cried out.

President Ouatarra arrived in Accra on Monday for a two-day state visit after the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), settled a three-year-long maritime dispute between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.

A few weeks ago, a conclusion was brought to the discrepancy over the two countries’ maritime boundaries when the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea ruled in favour of Ghana.

But in an interaction with Samuel Huntor on ‘Pampaso’ on Radio Gold, Osman Rahim Hassan lamented that the action of President Akufo Addo to worship Ouattara is ‘’very bad’’, adding that ‘’why must Ghana parade all ministers before the Ivorian President?’’

The visit, according to him will enhance the bond of friendship between the two countries, but maintained that lining up all 110 Ministers of State, Deputy Ministers, Chief of Staffs, DCE’s, MCE’s including school children on the street in the scorching sun just to receive President Alhassan Ouattara does not make sense.

He noted that indeed Ghana is like a home to the Ivorian President, and his host President Akufo Addo is a close friend of his, but argued that a more suitable reception would have been appropriate.

‘’Yes the body chemistry that exist between our President and the Ivorian leader is there for all to see…but not to this extreme, it shouldn’t be this way – our president acted in a very bizarre manner…very bad – poor – it’s not good,’’

‘’Once again, we have problems with our protocol – this is not the first time, and I had always wanted to ask why we keep committing these errors and never find means of correcting them,’’ he bemoaned.
On the other hand, He noted with sadness the stand still the visit has generated and ensuing financial losses to both the state and private businesses.

‘’this has cost us a lot. The lack of movement of goods and services that occurred as a result of the stand still would clearly have resulted in a loss which will ultimately affect us whether you like it or not’’, he opined.

He however cautioned the President to ensure that these kind of bizarre situations do not repeat themselves going forward.
