Palm wine ‘Captain Smart’ Tapper tutors Bawumia

in an environment where a doctorate degree holder allows politics to blind his professional credentials, it will take a “palm wine tapper” to pump common sense knowledge to set the record straight.

This is the reason why the host of the Adom FM’s Morning Show, Captain Smart, who calls himself a palm wine tapper, will give free economics and banking lessons to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the running mate of Nana Akufo Addo, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party.

In a write up entitled “Do You Need a Doctorate Degree in Economics to Understand This?” the ace broadcaster knocks into Dr. Bawumia’s skull bullet-by-bullet facts on the $250 UBA Eurobond saga.

Read excerpts of unedited Captain Smart’s epistle:

Two years ago, Government of Ghana through the finance ministry sought approval from parliament to raise one billion dollar loan through Eurobond.
The supporting documents attached to the proposal clearly indicated how the amount was to be used.

Among other things, 250 million dollars was to be paid into the Ghana Infrastructure Investments Fund (GIIF).

The Parliament of Ghana, made up of representatives from NDC, NPP etc duly approved the loan.

When the money was released, the minister of finance ensured that the 250 million dollars was duly paid into the GIIF account with bank of Ghana (BoG).
After 18 months, the minister detected the amount was still seated idle in the BoG account, without accruing interest.
