Official: Akufo-Addo’s Chief Bans President Kufour’s Vehicle From Parking in Kyebi Palace?

Information reaching “INFO GHANA” newspaper has it that, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II Chief of Abuakwa, the hometown of the 2016 flagbearer of the largest opposition NPP Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has categorically relayed a strict intruction to guards at the Kyebi Palace never to allow a former President John Agyekum Kufour to have his car, parking anywhere in the Kyebi Palace, anytime President Kufour happens to come to the Palace irrespective of purposes for his visit.

In a letter signed by Abuakwamanhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, a copy of which is available to us, instructed Palace Guards in the Kyebi Palace to “stay conscious against enemies of Abuakwaman.” The letter stated among others that “irrespective of the purposes for Kufour’s visit” to the Kyebi palace, never “attempt to lay down your arms” however, the letter ordered the palace guards to “labour in persuading whoever is driving President Kufour’s vehicle to park the vehicle outside this Kyebi Palace.” The letter further suggested that, if drivers of “enemies to Abuakwaman” take an “obstructive” stands,  then whoever Guard is in charge “must exert force and grappling tactics” or “draw attention of Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II.”

Sometime in September this year, President Kufour together with former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Pastor Mensah Otabil and other notable men made a courtesy call on the chief of Abuakwa, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II. An incident, to the shock of a crowd of fascinated onlookers happened; driver of President Kufour’s vehicle was ordered by Palace guard to park the vehicle of the former President outside the Palace. Apparently, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Pastor Mensah Otabil and others who had come were permitted to park their vehicles in the Kyebi Palace whereas the vehicle of the former President was “chased” out of the Palace. Meanwhile , Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II has banned the Eastern Regional Chairman of the ruling NDC Tawia Boateng from stepping foot in the Kyebi palace.
