NPP’s Invisible Forces Take over Susu Toilet

Members of the vigilante group affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have taken over toilet and bath facilities belonging to the Susu Collectors Association in Accra.

The facility which is on a Build Operate and Transfer basis between the Association and the Ablekuma Central Sub Metro office of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly [AMA] , has been forcefully taken over by the vigilante group popularly referred to as the ‘’Invisible Forces’’.

Addressing members of the press in Accra, the president of the Association, Rev. Peter A. Dodoo, accused leadership of the NPP and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Hon. Ebenezer Nii Noi Nortey, for deliberately masterminding the illegal invasion of their party foot soldiers.

According to Rev. Peter Dodoo, some members of the party within the constituency are aiding the group led by one Abubakari Karim, to subvert the agreement with the Association

“It is our believe that some members of the party within the constituency and the sub-metro office are aiding the said Abubakari Karim to subvert the agreement with the Association”, he said.

He explained that the land on which the toilet facility was built was leased to the Association by Ablekuma Central Sub-Metro of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, in 1995 to finance the construction of the toilet and bathhouse on Build Operate and Transfer basis for ten years.

The intended returns on the investment according to the President of the Association could not be recouped hence the agreement was renewed for another ten years which is currently running until year 2020.

He revealed that the net proceeds from the facility were shared between the Sub-Metro and his outfits on 30% and 70% basis.

The NPP youth in the Ablekuma Central after the swearing-in of President Akuffo Addo as President of the Republic of Ghana invaded the facility and forcibly took over the administration of the toilet facility with the claim that their government has taken over the reins of government.

Several attempts by the leadership of the society to get the police effect arrest of those involved proved futile as the police was reluctant to act swiftly.

Meanwhile, the society is calling on the government and the leadership of the NPP to call their boys to order before things gets out of hands.

They also urged the President to step up his authority by ensuring his appointees leave up to task and ensuring perpetrators are brought to book irrespective of those involved.
