NPP’s Capt. Koda Sick In BNI Cells – Lawyer Nana Asante Bediatuo

The Head of the private security detail for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Nana Akuffo Addo, Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda, who was re-arrested on Thursday by the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI), for his alleged role in the invitation of three ex-police officers from South Africa to train the party’s security personnel, is reported very ill.

The retired Captain of the Ghana Armed Forces was taken ill on Saturday whiles in BNI custody.

He was re-arrested on Thursday after charges of unlawful training and conspiracy to commit crime against him were dropped.
Lawyer for Captain Koda (rtd), Nana Asante Bediatuo, had told Citi News his client is not being treated fairly and that his rights have been abused under the laws of Ghana.He says Captain Koda was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for medical attention, where doctors had recommended he stayed there a while longer to be treated but the BNI operatives refused.

Security operatives on Friday allegedly visited Captain Koda’s residence at Weija in Accra to carry out a search.

The three were arraigned on Thursday and granted bail, but were taken to BNI custody as conditions for their bail are being verified.

They were arrested on Sunday, March 20th 2016 at a Hotel in the Central Region. Citi News understands that lawyers for the three will file a contempt suit against the BNI this week.
