NPP to go #RedFriday over office raid

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has decided to wear red and black on Friday, November 27, 2015 to register their protest over the raid in the party’s headquarters on Monday morning.

A statement signed by Mr Perry Okudzeto, a Deputy Director of Communications of the party encouraged its “members, sympathisers, executives, Members of Parliament, and the leadership of the party” to gather at its Asylum Down headquarters in Accra to speak out on the matter on Friday.

“The New Patriotic Party will gather at the Party Headquarters to speak to the outrageous, orchestrated Monday dawn raid of the same Head Office by enemies of democracy, under the worrying guise of the State,” it said.

“In this regard we call upon all Ghanaians, who believe in, and want to protect our democracy, to express their outrage boldly by joining in marking #RedFriday by wearing red, or black with red armbands. An attack on the opposition is an attack on democracy. Show solidarity. Wear #RedFriday,” it added.

Eleven people arrested in connection with the raid has since been arraigned in court and granted bail
