NPP stalwarts receive Jake’s remains at Kotaka

NPP bigwigs converged at the Kotoka International Airport Tuesday evening to receive the remains of the party’s late Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey from the United Kingdom.

Former President Kufuor, former Minister of State, Hackman Owusu Agyemang and other party stalwarts welcomed Jake’s remains at a short, sombre ceremony at the airport. Family members and sympathizers were also at the airport Tuesday.

A priest said short a prayer before his body was whisked away.

The body of the late former party chair arrived on board British Airways Flight Number 081.

Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey died on Sunday, March 20, 2016 in London where he had been receiving medical care.

He will be laid to rest on Friday, April 22, 2016, according to a family source. The first part of the funeral will be a pre-burial service on April 21, 2016, at the Accra Ridge Church, from 6pm to 10pm. This will be a Celebration of his Life, and in accordance with his wishes, the attire will be ‘Joyful Colours’.

The second part will be a burial, Funeral and Thanksgiving Service on April 22, 2016, at the forecourt of the State House, and again, in accordance with his wishes, the attire will be white. He will then be laid to rest at a private funeral ceremony.
