NPP is not ready to bring back Afoko – Freddie Blay

The acting National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay has hinted that the suspended Chairman of the party will not be reinstated.

The National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong were suspended by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP for allegedly working against the interest of the party ahead of the 2016 elections.

Speaking on Citi FM on Thursday, Freddie Blay said there is no way the suspended party executives will be given back his position irrespective of the fact that NPP is in power. He also disclosed that there has not been any discussion in relation to reinstating Afoko.

The former Deputy Speaker added that the order for him to take over Afoko’s role after his suspension was normal procedure because the party’s constitution makes provision for the Vice Chair to act when the Chairman is not around.

Meanwhile, a leading member of the NPP in the Ashanti Region George Ayisi Boateng has asked embattled National Chairman Paul Afoko to show remorse for his conduct ahead of the elections.

Paul Afoko disregarded the decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and filed a suit against the party at an Accra High Court. However, the court sustained his suspension by the leadership of the NPP.
