NPP Members Don’t Reason…! – Asiedu Nketiah
General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has fired a sharp riposte at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for claiming Justice Yaw Apau was appointed to the Supreme Court because he did a ‘hatchet’ job for the government on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, the opposition NPP always fail to think deep before making allegations and spew lies which later comes back to haunt them.
In Tuesday’s edition of the Daily Guide newspaper, the opposition party is reported to have made a sensational claim that the Judgment Debt Sole-Commissioner was appointed to the Supreme Court by President John Mahama because of a dirty job he did for the government.
According to the NPP, the ruling NDC, led by its General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, was hiding behind the Judgment Debt Commission Report prepared by Justice Apau to make Nana Akufo-Addo look like a corrupt man when he is not.
“Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP as a party are tired of the deliberate attempts by the NDC and their agents to tag the man as a corrupt person,” Acting General Secretary John Boadu said at a news conference last Friday.
“Arrest Nana Addo and prosecute him if it’s not just propaganda you are doing with the drill ship saga,” John Boadu said, insisting that “Asiedu Nketiah’’s misguided and erroneous reference to Nana Akufo-Addo’s alleged incompetence is borne out of the usual ignorance and or deliberate attempts to mislead the public,” he said.
But General Mosquito as affectionately called, has fired back at the opposition party.
In an interview with Kwame Nkrumah “Tikese” on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, he described the NPP as having weak intellectual capacities which disables them from thinking too deeply.
He demanded to know from the NPP if they promised the current Chief Justice, Her Lordship Justice Georgina Wood, her position for presided excellently over the committee that looked into the saga of the missing 77 parcels of cocaine when President Kufuor was in power.
“The NPP didn’t think deep before making such statement; they know Justice Apau and so they should not have blamed the judge and the NDC on this drillship case. It is this same judge who presided over the murder case of Yaa Naa when President Kufuor was in power and this judge freed the murder suspects of Yaa Naa; are they saying they know this judge to be corrupt? They should tell Ghanaians…
“If the NPP is saying that every judge that chairs a commission like Justice Apau on the Judgment Debt is awarded with Supreme Court position then are they telling Ghanaians the kind of award they gave to the judge who presided over the missing 77 parcel of cocaine case? The current Chief Justice presided over the cocaine case before she was appointed to the Chief Justice. The NPP wants to tell us that this is the way they used and so they think the NDC is using similar way to honor Justice Apau”, he chided.
