NPP Launches Manifesto For 2016 Elections

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says President John Dramani Mahama cannot teach him lessons in patriotism.

Speaking at the NPP manifesto launch at the trade fair center in Accra today, Nana Akufo Addo stated: “Let me state clearly and without any equivocation that John Dramani Mahama cannot teach me any lesson in patriotism. My love for and belief in Ghana is total and has stood the test of time,” Nana Addo said at the manifesto launch of his party in Accra on Sunday.

While, dismissing the President’s claims that those who cannot see the success of the economy are unpatriotic, Nana Addo said the NPP is not looking for catchy phrases or meaningless slogans; but rather it is offering solutions that will take the country out of what he called economic crisis.

“I have heard the President of the Republic make the breathtaking claim that the economy is not in crises. He went further to say that those who say the economy is in crisis have bad eyesight.”

“The president says that those who say the economy is in crisis are unpatriotic. Let me state clearly and without any equivocation that John Dramani Mahama cannot teach me any lessons in patriotism.”

“I can’t go out and use the tax payer money to claim that I am accounting to the people to campaign as somebody has been doing. I don’t have to go around the country to rediscover Ghana like somebody has been doing. Since 2012 I have been going to all the district creating jobs so I have been around and I know where everything is in Ghana and what the situation is in Ghana.”

He added that, “all true lovers of Ghana know that the circumstances of our existence these past eight years is not the Ghana that our forebears fought for. The Ghana of the past four years is certainly nothing like the Ghana the current population of Ghanaians aspire to”

Nana Addo also stated that, the NPP’s manifesto represents his social contract with the Ghanaian electorate when elected into office as president.

According to him, the manifesto gives the NPP the opportunity to show that it is a party of rule of law and a party of business.

Speaking on the manifesto, the Policy Advisor to Nana Addo, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko asked Ghanaians to vote for the change they so desperately desire.

According to him the NPP manifesto is a response to the real problems faced by Ghanaians as a result of mismanagement, corruption and incompetence of the Mahama led NDC government.

He stated that while travelling round the country to evangelise on the need for change, he has encountered Ghanaians from all walks of life who wonder if they have a government at the helm of affairs…that cares about the welfare of its citizens.

“The solutions we have set out in this manifesto have been well thought out and considered. This manifesto is our commitment to the people of Ghana, it is our social contract between us and Ghanaians aimed to restore hope and to get the country working again thereby relieving the hardship of our people.”

“The task at hand demands that we buy into the vision that will inspire this nation” and….to passionately come out to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its candidate Nana Akufo-Addo,”he said.

“The policy plan set out in this manifesto is for the long term sustainable development of Ghana. These policies are aimed at transforming the economy through value addition. The NPP will build in Ghana the most people friendly and the most business friendly economy in the whole of Africa that will create opportunity and secure the stability of our society”, he said.

The event was chaired by former President John Kufuor.

Meanwhile, the party’s rally is underway at the Trade Fair Center in Accra with thousands of party supporters in attendance.
