NPP INVESTIGATES AKUFO ADDO

• Over missing funds
• But the NPP flag bearer writes to stop investigations

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo, the third term flagbearer of New Patriotic Party has been accused by the Council of Elders in Abuakwa South Constituency, of embezzling his share of MP’s Common fund.

The accusation by the party was contained in a letter released and signed by the Chairman of Council of Elders in the Abuakwa South branch of the party inviting the presidential candidate, the former member of parliament of the Abuakwa South Constituency to appear before them to show cause of his innocence.

In a letter by Oheneba Yaw Takyi, the Chairman of the Council of Elders, he stated that the call for investigation into the projects became necessary based on the mind-boggling revelations found in the execution of the proposed projects by the Member of Parliament (Akufo Addo) using his share of the MP’S Common Fund.

“The attention of the Council of Elders of the constituency has been drawn to the above stated heading (EMBEZZLEMET OF MP’S SHARE OF COMMON FUND ABUAKWA SOUTH CONSTITUENCY –KYEBI) in the issue of the Searchlight, Volume 6, Number 145 of Monday, 27th February –Sunday March 5, 2006. We also have in our possession a photo copy of the fictitious building materials purported to have been distributed by you (Akufo Addo) and two of your executives named in the article,” Oheneba stressed on behalf of the Council of Elders.

He said they cannot sit down unconcerned to allow issues get out of hand to jeopardize the future of the constituency considering the significance of Abuakwa South Constituency in political life of the nation, hence the decision to invite Nana Addo to appear before them to purge himself.

Mr. William Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in response to the accusations said “this is to inform all of you that I am looking into the matter and would therefore be grateful if the action is withheld until I have concluded my enquiry’

Some political connoisseurs think the opposition New Patriotic Party’s candidate for the 2016 polls is a walking contradiction considering his past and juxtaposing it with his present campaign messages, noting that how can a man who is said to have supervised the suspension of his National Chairman, General Secretary and Vice Chairman for fighting against corruption turn around to promise the entire nation a corrupt free economy?

One political analyst wondered how a man who could write to stop the Abuakwa Council of Elders from investigating him as a Member of Parliament adhere and abide by the tenets of Special Prosecutor?
