NPP doesn’t have Ghana’s interest – Johnson Asiedu Nketia

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) does not have the interest of the nation at heart given that it has not been able to put together its manifesto for the November 7 presidential and parliamentary elections, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress has said.

According to him, the Elephant family is visionless and clueless going into this year’s election, therefore, Ghanaians must not give the party a chance.

“They [NPP] don’t have the interest of the nation at heart. It’s very clear that they just want to taste power and have no vision for the nation. If the party is nationalistic in character, it will not entertain any fears that some party somewhere will copy its manifesto it is putting out,” Mr Asiedu Nketia told Accra-based Kasapa FM on Monday June 13.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com/

“If, indeed, there was any truth in their claim, then they should be happy. Because that means that the nation is being developed around their ideas and that should excite them,” he said in response to the NPP’s comment that it is delaying the release of its manifesto to avert copying by the NDC.

The Acting National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay, last week stated that the party is not in a hurry to launch its 2016 manifesto ahead of the November general elections due to fears of plagiarism.

Mr Peter Mac Manu, Campaign Manager for the NPP flagbearer’s campaign team also expressed similar concerns.
