NPP disputes “fake” Steering Committee agenda on Social media

The New Patriotic Party has disputed what it says to be fake copies of a Steering Committee meeting agenda which have been circulated on social media.

The party says the content of that agenda is nothing more than a fabrication from political opponents who are bent on representing the NPP as an ethnocentric party.

A statement signed by the Deputy Communications Director of the Party Anthony Abayifaa Karbo said “the piece circulating is an outright fabrication and a creation by pathetic minds to fan tribal and sectional sentiments against the NPP.”

The  following is the full details of the statement.

                                             FAKE STEERING COMMITTEE AGENDA

It has come to the notice of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that copies of a fake Steering Committee meeting agenda is making the rounds on social media.

We wish to state emphatically that the piece circulating is an outright fabrication and a creation by pathetic minds to fan tribal and sectional sentiments against the NPP.

For the avoidance of doubt, none of the purported bullet points on the piece circulating was part of the discussions at last Tuesday’s Steering Committee meeting and does not reflect the views of our party.

The NPP is a national party and will remain as such. There is no agenda against any Ghanaian whose vote is paramount to the success and victory of Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in 2016. We are committed to building a society of opportunities for every Ghanaian, irrespective of tribe or creed.

We find it absolutely irresponsible how one particular party is completely tying its electoral fortunes to the whipping up of dangerous sectional and tribal sentiments. It is a manifestation of the level of desperation of government, since the people of Ghana have been hugely let down by the unprecedented incompetence and corruption in the past seven years.

The continuous reliance on this dangerous scheme could one day set off unforeseen fires and it is critical that the good people of Ghana speak against such characters and their actions.

We urge the media to ignore such concoctions and to help sanitize our discourse, by ensuring that, at all times we focus our minds on the critical issues of development. It is time to ignore those who want to keep our people in the divisions of the 16th century.

We again reiterate that all official communications from the party will be through official channels only.

..Signed…

Anthony Abayifaa Karbo

(Deputy Director of Communications)
