NPP CRISIS: CRACKS IN MINORITY LEADERSHIP IN PARLIAMENT DEEPENS

Even before the dust settles on last week’s scandal about “chop chop” and fisticuffs among Leadership of the Minority NPP Parliamentary group and its Members, snippets of information reaching the Weekly Guide indicate that the Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu “Kitchen Cabinet” has decided to take the fight to the rest of the members of the Leadership.

Some of the members of the ‘Kyei Kitchen Cabinet’ (KKC) which includes the ubiquitous and over ambitious Hon. Matthew Prempeh (aka Napo), the sneaky Hon O. B. Amoah, the smooth operating Hon Joe Osei Owusu (aka Joe Wise) and the rather quiet Hon Gyan Baffour have decided to fully go after any member of the Leadership who will question their exclusive and sometimes closed door meetings with the Minority Leader.

The KKC has particularly singled out the Minority Chief Whip, the Hon. Daniel Kwaku Botwe and started a whispering campaign against him around the corridors of Parliament. Among other things, they are accusing the Chief Whip of being behind last week’s leakage of proceedings of the caucus meeting.

In a related development, details of how the Minority Leader and his deputy schemed to change the recommendation of the National disciplinary committee of the Party for the 15-month suspension of the Party’s General Secretary at the National Executive Committee have emerged.

The duo reasoned that since it is highly unlikely that the Party would win the November 2016 elections, it would be suicidal to have Kwabena Agyapong in office as the General Secretary as he certainly will oppose their renominations.

The deputy Leader was therefore tasked to convince NEC that since Paul Afoko, the national chairman was from the north, if Kwabena is given a different punishment it would be seen as discrimination against Afoko.

The NEC was then advised to tell the general public that the reason for the change of punishment was to make it less definitive so that Kwabena could even be called back just after a month.

It is clear the leadership is in crisis and trying all sorts of means to sink their anchor deeper still.

Keep your cool and watch this space as we keep sending our probes deeper into the Minority caucus. Until we have a responsible opposition the Government will continue to have a field day messing all of us up.
