NPP Chases Out Asempa Fm Presenter -Flash Back

On February 22, 2012, Nana Kwabena Bobie-Ansah, host of ‘Ekosi Sen”, a political talk show on Asempa 94.7 woke up in the morning, dressed up and left his home for work with idea that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organizer was going to lead armed party thugs to invade his office, and take away that which puts food on the tables of his dependants.

Credible information available to The Herald reveal that Anthony Karbo’s dangerous act of leading NPP militants to invade the Kokomlemle office of Joy FM, has led to Nana Bobie-Ansah losing his job at Asempa FM; a case of punishing the victim to appease the villain.

The letter abrogating all his engagement with the Multimedia Group, owners of Asempa FM, was handed over to him last week, although the contract between him and the media organization, was to expire by the end of this year.

It is unclear yet whether the he had been paid his entitlements upon the abrogation of the contract.

Meanwhile, reports making the rounds is that a top official of the company pocketed some US$20, 000 from the NPP hierarchy, to clear the fine broadcaster.

The letter hounding Bobie out of the studios of Asempa FM was signed by Mr. Ekyi Quarm, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Multimedia Group. Mr. Quarm is said to have worked at Guinness Ghana Limited as well as Unilever Ghana, and has had a beyond friendship connection to the NPP National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.

Reliable information from Multimedia Group suggests that the NPP since last year had schemed to have Bobie sacked from a show they view as unfavorable to their political fortunes.

The failure of their plot to oust Bobie last year resulted in a boycott of the “Ekosi Sen” programme under the guise of a so-called bias against the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

While the boycott was ongoing, The Herald learnt that NPP activist was all over the place threatening fire and brimstone, to cut links with Kwesi Twum as well as revealing certain damning secrets about him to the media.

In the end, the NPP got the Multimedia Group to publicly apologize to them, and be re-admitted onto the “Ekosi Sen” afternoon political analysis programme, but Bobie’s sacking to give agents of the NPP an unfettered leverage to perpetuate its propaganda for the 2012 elections, was just a matter of time.

So last February’s mob attack led by Anthony Karbo, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP on Asempa FM, over a flimsy excuse that their Hopeson Adorye, an agent on the show, was prevented from responding to the comments made about Nana Addo was merely a cloak for something that had long been plotted for execution.

The mob threatened to beat up the host of the show for allowing Mr. Peter Boamah Otokuno, a member of the government’s communication team to insult the flag bearer of the NPP.

Contrary to this dastardly incident on the part of the NPP, Nana Bobie-Ansah was rather strangely suspended. Interestingly, a report released by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), last week had Asempa FM, identified as the most vulgar-oriented radio station three months after Bobie was hounded out of the station.
