NPP activists go berserk over Akufo-Addo’s MMDCE list

Some disgruntled members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Savelugu-Nanton in the Northern Region went on rampage hours after the government released the list of Metropolitan, Municipal, District Chief Executives (MMDCES) on Wednesday.

According to them, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, who was named as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area does not deserve the position because she played no significant role in last year’s general election.

They expressed their anger by burning party billboards and blocking major roads. They have vowed to reject her when voting for approval begins at the assembly level.

There are pockets such agitations across the country as some party activists claim that the real people who worked for the party in 2016 have been sidelined. Others also claim some of the names announced are not known in the constituencies.
