North Tongu Primary Likely To Be Suspended…

An aspiring parliamentary candidate for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region, Christopher Kofi Eleblu, yesterday, after hours of hide-and-seek game played by the constituency appeared at the constituency to serve an injunction from an Accra High Court, to suspend the NDC parliamentary primary in the area.

According to the NDC former cadre, each time efforts to present the legal documents issued by the court to the delegates were made, they (party delegates) either said they were in a meeting or lied that they were not around.

All these, Kofi Eleblu’s allies told this paper, were deliberate schemes by the delegates to completely rule him out of the contest tomorrow.

Kofi Eleblu was disqualified by the NDC National Petition Review Committee on October 14, 2015, on grounds that he had reportedly been arraigned before an Accra High Court (Financial Division) for defrauding the State to the tune of GH¢646, 000.00.

Following his disqualification, Mr. Eleblu appealed an Accra High Court to place an injunction on the primary until the final verdict of the court on his case was determined.

According to him, all the ill issues raised against him were orchestrated solely to tarnish his image and make him unpopular among his supporters ahead of the primaries in the constituency.

He however, noted that he is the biggest threat in the race to the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area; Hon. Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa in the primary, adding that fear of him emerging victorious in the polls is what is scaring the delegates who wanted him out.

Months ago, Christopher Kofi Eleblu accused the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa of allegedly planning to defame him.
