#NDCPrimaries: Kwame Dzokoto, Eric Don Arthur win

Final results from the Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency indicate that popular actor and comedian, Kwame Dzokoto has won in the parliamentary primaries of the National Democartic congress.

Dzokoto who promised his fans he would win the elections “hands down” polled 1415 votes as his closest contender Joseph Otchere polled 402.

Former TV3 Morning Show host, Eric Don- Arthur, has also won his bid to represent the NDC in the Effutu Constituency.

Don Arthur polled 1694 votes as his opponent, Ambrose Entsiwah polled 1262.

This makes two media personalities who are seeking a mandate in parliament come 2016.

Meanwhile, Majority leader Alban Bagbin has been retained in the Nadowli-kaleo constituency gathering 3,275 votes as against his opponent John Salifu Dumba’s 975.

A minister of state at the presidency Rashid Pelpuo has also polled 4,945 votes to retain his seat in the Wa Central primary.

In other results, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings daughter of former President John Rawlings has won the Klottey Korle constituency in a landslide victory in the NDC parliamentary and presidential primaries.

Provisional results indicate that Dr. Rawlings polled 2,403 defeating incumbent Member of Parliament Nii Armah Ashietey who had 1,348 votes.

A third contestant Nii John Coleman had 100 votes.

Dr. Rawlings’ victory comes after she struggled to cast her vote in Saturday’s election after her name was missing in the voters’ register.

All attempts to trace her name to vote in the primaries have proved futile after touring several polling stations to trace her name.

Accra Mayor Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has also won the Ablekuma South constituency.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly polled 3,298 while his contender Wisdom Nii Amo Dodoo managed 1,259 votes in Saturday’s polls.

Mr. Vanderpuije takes over from incumbent Fritz Baffour who decided not to seek re-election.
