NDC won’t dissociate itself from Attivor’s comment – Adu Asare

Presidential Staffer, Kojo Adu Asare, has defended some ethnocentric comments made by former Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor which has been widely condemned.

According to Adu Asare, Dzifa Attivor’s comment is an obvious truth.

Dzifa Attivor while calling on members of the NDC to register in the limited voter registration exercise also urged them to take the exercise seriously to ensure that the party is retained since she and the current Transport Minister, Fiifi Kwetey will be jailed under a New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

She argued that the NPP had an agenda against loyalists of the NDC who hail from the Volta Region.

But many have condemned the comments describing it as tribal politics, ethnocentric and reckless.

However, Adu Asare who is a former NDC MP for the Adentan Constituency while speaking on Citi FM’s political talk show, The Big Issue on Saturday mounted a spirited defense for Dzifa Attivor.

When pushed further by host of the show, Umaru Sanda Amadu on the NDC’s position on the matter Mr. Asare said “we [NDC] don’t dissociate ourselves from Dzifa Attivor’s comment.”

“Whatever statement she made… from our perspective and how we saw and understood her, I don’t see anything different from what we know. Because we have been in this country where at cabinet level, Upper West didn’t have representation in cabinet.

“That regime also went through. So if somebody is making inferences from references like that why would you want to tag the person as being tribalistic and ethnocentric? Ask the NPP how many Ewes, Gas; Akans were in their cabinet, do the analysis, why do we want to portray this as if this is not happening,” he argued.

Rawlings fires Dzifa Attivor over tribal politics

Founder of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings has chastised former Minister of Transport, Dzifa Attivor for making some comments deemed to be ethnocentric.
