Aseidu Nketia calls for calm in Kpondo NDC

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has appealed to the people of Kpondo constituency in the Volta Region to vote massively to retain President Mahama and the Parliamentary candidate of the area, Mrs. Dela Sowah in the December elections.

He also called on supporters of the party in Sovie to reconcile with their Member of Parliament to ensure they achieve the agenda One Million votes targeted by the NDC in the Volta Region.

There have been media reports which suggest that, the MP Mrs. Dele Sowah, who is also the Deputy Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection, and some elders of the Sovie Traditional Area are at loggerheads.

But speaking at the annual Sasadu Festival at Sovie in the Kpondo municipality of the Volta Region, Mr. Aseidu Nkatia appealed to the chiefs and people especially supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to smoke the peace pipe and vote to retain John Mahama and Mrs. Dele Sowah.

” I’m pleading with you to let go the difference, I understand there is some misunderstanding here at Kpondo, but please let’s go the difference and vote massively…you know if you don’t vote for her, you will be doing disservice not only to her, but to all of us. Remember President Mahama needs majority in Parliament to continue his development of this country,” he appealed.

The Sasadu Festival which is celebrated by the people of Sovie was attended by Interior Minister Prosper Bani, Dr. Bernice Heloo, deputy Minister for Environment Science and Technology, and the deputy minister for Volta Region among others.

Aseidu Nketia at a rally and campaign launch of the MP further urged the constituent to vote for both President Mahama and all the NDC Parliamentary Candidates to ensure that President Mahama continue his development of the Volta Region.

“Those who are asking you not to vote for Mrs. Dele Sowah are not true NDC members. We need women in Parliament and you have one…Because she is a woman that is why when we were looking for gender balance in Parliament for appointment we have to go for her; if she were a man she won’t have gotten this position because by then we had already given you chief of staff in the person of Prosper Bani,” he said.
