NDC Prepares for EC Registration Exercise

The Greater Accra Regional branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), over the weekend took a health walk as part of preparations towards the upcoming Electoral Commission’s registration exercise scheduled to take place later this year.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

The exercise was also part of the party’s regional activities to physically, mentally and psychologically prepare its men and women in readiness, towards the impending registration exercise and subsequently, the general elections.

The event saw over thousands of party faithful’s, i.e., supporters, sympathizers and other members of the political divide.
Hon. Nii Laryea Afortey Agbo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister and a Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpon –Katamanso in the Greater Accra Region told this paper, shortly after the exercise that “the youth must not allow themselves to be used in causing political violence in the country”.

According to the Regional Minister “ the youth must be up and doing, government alone cannot employ everybody; and you must also help yourself while government is creating opportunities and building necessary infrastructures including roads, hospitals and schools”.

The NDC political kingpin advised that; “youth should not rely on politicians and think that it is the only way to survive, work hard and believe in God and don’t fall victim of political lies”.

One of the regional vice persons of NDC in the Greater Accra Region, Mrs Gifty Emefa Sika Nartey, called on the youth who attained 18 years and above to make sure they have registered and have their names in the voters register.

Mrs Sika Nartye made the call when she was interviewed by this paper prior to the health walk on Saturday.

She indicated that “as a party in the region, we would help disseminate information and embark on house to house advocacy to ensure all youth who are 18 years and above register during the impending registration exercise”.

On his part, the Regional Organizer, Mr. Anthony Nukpenu, advised against double registration and urged all members of the ruling NDC not to attempt or indulge in such acts.
