NDC has laid foundation to create more jobs – Ato Forson

The Deputy Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, says government has laid the necessary foundation for more jobs for the youth.

This is because the inflation and interest are coming down and businesses will feel their positive impact from 2017.

Speaking at the Central Region NDC campaign launch in Agona Swedru, Mr. Ato Forson, who is also the MP for Ajumako – Enyan – Essiam and co-ordinator of the region’s campaign taskforce, said the focus of government is to revamp all defunct state industries to create more jobs for Ghanaians.

He therefore called on Ghanaians to renew the mandate of President John Mahama for another four years to enable him to continue the unprecedented level of development across the country.

On NPP’s one factory, one district campaign message, he asked Ghanaians to be wary of such a promise.

This is because even the Ayensu Starch Factory, near Bawjiase, which the NPP government under President Kufour started, collapsed before the government exited power in 2008.

The Starch factory under President Mahama, has re-bounced back and it is seriously working.

Mr. Ato Forson cited the Komenda Sugar factory, the Kumasi Shoe Factory as some of the factories government has revamped and are working.

Additionally, government has built the Elmina Fish Processing Factory to process 100 thousand metric tonnes of fish daily.

Government is also supporting the fishing industry with subsidised outboard motors and other interventions to boost the sector. Agriculture is also receiving similar attention.
