Policy think tank, IMANI Ghana  has graded the Mahama-led administration 47 % for its overall performance since it took over power in 2012.

The think tank, in its assessment report described the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) performance as “satisfactory” but was quick to add that there is more room for improvement.

This was after IMANI Ghana assessed the party based on its promises in the 2012 manifesto.

The report also evaluated the rate of execution of programs and projects stated in the manifesto and identified the gaps that should to be bridged over the next year and a half before the 2016 election.

For the economy, “the NDC government had a cumulative score of  36.4%, reflecting a strong progress in the implementation of security services and economy, road and safety taskforce.”

The NDC, according to the report,  also scored  65.7 %, reflecting very strong scores in non formal education, distant learning and  open schooling and satisfactory progress in all the sub themes except secondary education.

Presenting the report, an economist with IMANI Ghana, Emmanuel Boadi Mensah however pinpointed some promises government had not yet fulfilled.

He said : “the GDP growth has decreased from about 15% in 2011 to a projected 3.5 %.This means that the 8.5 % that they punched has not been achieved.”

Although physical deficit has decreased,  the report indicates that the deficit is still above the target of 5% promised.

His assertion is in conformity with the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper
