NDC defends President Mahama’s Abura promise

President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of Abura in the Central Region that he would provide every household an electricity meter.
The NDC says the media and its critics should not liken President Mahama’s promise of one household, one pre-paid meter for the people of Abura to that of Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Communications Director of the NDC, Solomon Nkansah explained that, President Mahama only responded to requests put before him by elders in the Abura community in the Central Region.

He told Agatha Asamoah that, the 1,500 pre-meters are to be distributed soon but was quick to add that, the move is not for political expediency.

Meanwhile, Kwamena Duncun, the Central Regional Secretary of the NPP, was shocked by the promise by President John Mahama and said the promise betrays the NDC’s consistent condemnation of Nana Akufo Addo’s promises in similar context.

That was the Central Regional Secretary of the NPP, Kwamena Duncun.

A Political Scientist, Kobby Mensah however said the electorate will vote for a preferred party or candidate not necessarily because of a political promise.
