NCCE should be blamed for my disqualification – Ayariga

Disqualified presidential aspirant of the All People’s Congress, Hassan Ayariga has blamed the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for the errors committed on his presidential nomination forms which were submitted to the Electoral Commission.

According to him, the Commission failed to educate electorates on what was required of them if they wanted to endorse flagbearers for the December polls.

“Given the doubt that whatever the EC said was true, I am coming from the PNC and there are members of the PNC that have moved from the PNC to ignorantly do those common mistakes. It is the duty of the NCCE to have educated the people on how to subscribe so for us that fault does not lie on political parties but the NCCE, which Charlotte Osei was the former boss.

“So if those common mistakes are happening then it means that the NCCE didn’t do a good job because if they had done a good job, I don’t think we would have these common errors coming from the voter,” he said.

Meanwhile, an Accra High Court has ordered for an early hearing of the suit filed by the All People’s Congress (APC) against the Electoral Commission over the disqualification of Hassan Ayariga.

The court presided over by Babara Tetteh Charwey abridged the date for the hearing to Monday October 31, 2016 to allow for a speedy adjudication of the matter.

The APC led by Hassan Ayariga resorted to the court after the EC disqualified him for failing to meet all the criteria set to contest the presidential elections in December 2016.

In their reliefs being sought, the party among others asked for an order to compel the EC to include their candidate as part of presidential candidates on the ballot sheet come December 7, 2016.
They also prayed the court to prohibit the EC and its assigns from carrying on with any activity with regards to the presidential elections until the case is dealt with.
