National Security was charitable with SA ex-cops – Kwakye Ofosu

Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has called on the three ex-South African police officers, their families and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be grateful to the security agencies in Ghana for deporting them peacefully.

The reason, the deputy minister said was because the security agencies had the power to do ‘other things’ to them.

“The security agencies were very charitable, in fact in other countries and jurisdictions, they [SA 3] wouldn’t have lived to tell their story…,” he said.

The three South African, ex-Police Officers, Major Chris Hazis (rtd), 54; Warrant Officer Denver Dwayhe, 33, and Captain Mlungiseli Jokani, 45 were arrested for training private security personnel of NPP’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

They were charged with five counts of conspiracy to commit crime Contrary to section 23 of act 29, unlawful training and Making false declaration contrary section 52(1) of immigration service act 2000.

The head of Nana Akufo-Addo’s security detail, Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda and the owner of EL-Capitano Hotel Captain (rtd) Acquah were also arrested and charged.

Despite being granted bail by a Circuit court in Accra, the three were whisked into the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and subsequently deported.

A Deputy National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator, Kwaku Boahen is on record that the deported South African ex-police officers should have been killed rather than deported.

He is reported to have claimed that National Security were ‘charitable’ with them arguing that lethal injection should have been used to kill them.

This argument seem to have the backing of the Deputy Minister who insisted the NPP ‘imported’ the three to help them raise a militia to unleash terror on the state if Nana Addo loses the 2016 elections.

“The NPP wanted to raise a militia with the aim of challenging the authority of the state after Nana Addo loses the 2016 elections…,” he said.

Kwakye Ofosu aside argument said NPP offered a lame explanation in defense of the South African ex-police officers, urging ‘no country to tolerate what the NPP did….”

“Explanations offered by the NPP do not make sense and indeed they should applaud the BNI for the swift action,” he said.
