The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur has described the registration of LEAP beneficiaries onto the NHIS as a unique initiative.
She said Ghana is the only country in the world to implement such an initiative.
Speaking at the National Launch of the free registration of LEAP beneficiaries onto the NHIS at the La-Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly in Accra, Nana Oye Lithur said about 82,154 LEAP beneficiary households are currently registered onto the scheme, representing 65 percent nationwide coverage.
She added that the registration of LEAP beneficiaries is an automatic process and expects the number to rise significantly in the coming weeks.
