Nana Addo should have sack Deputy Minister of Agric

On Tuesday night, William Agyapong Quaitoo resigned as the deputy minister of agric after he faced calls to step down from his job after he made disparaging comments against northerners.

He later issued an apology, retracting his ethnocentric comments.

The Peace Council also waded into the matter asking Ghanaians to forgive the resigned minister.
He faced calls from the minority in parliament, the Dagomba Youth Association, and some Ghanaians to quit his job.
Ghanaians have been reacting to the news of his resignation on social media. Here are what some of them are saying.

President Akufo Addo merely accepting the resignation of the Deputy Agriculture Minister is NOT got enough. First of all, if he was decisive, he should have fired the deputy minister right away and issue a formal statement to condemn his bigotry statement. Nothing of that sort happened. So the president deserves no commendation.

John Kekeli Bansah said: “The difference is that Hon Quiatoo will not be facing any prosecution for his resignation. But certainly Dzifa Attivor will.”
Mohammed Lufty said: “Politics is a complex Game. Now the game is on. Who is next?”
Enersto Yebaoh, the former CPP youth orgainiser said: “am pleasantly surprised by the leadership shown by the Deputy Agric Minister. He’s earned my utmost respect.”
The general secretary of the Progressive People’s Party, Murtala Mohammed, said: “What a way to go. After apology, you resigned to? kw33! Don’t give up on Ghana yet. We can do it.”
Kwaku Azar said: “A very good day for democracy. We must have zero tolerance for speech from public officers that puts down the people.”
Hetop Abeku Adams said: “Deputy Minister RESIGNS! GREAT ERA!! I wish Prez’s SPEECH WRITER had done same in the past.”
Kojo Ablordeppey, a journalist with Radio Gold said: “Resignation alone is not enough. The Presidency is expected to come out and condemn the statement.”
