Nana Addo “NPP” brought Serbians to train Party security in 2014 – Paul Afoko reveals

The suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko has revealed that the NPP brought into the country four Serbians in 2014 to train party security.

In an interview with Africawatch magazine, Afoko who is fighting the party in court over his suspension, stated that the four Serbians were brought into the country by Ken Ofori Atta, cousin of Akufo-Addo without his knowledge.

According to Afoko, the Serbians were paid by Mr. Ofori Atta and camped in a Hotel at Mile 7 in Achimota, Accra. He added the contents of the training program shocked him to the bones when he read it.

Afoko added that all this happened behind the backs of the top people in the party, including the national chairman and even the members of the steering committee.

“These people [NPP] were out of their minds. They wanted to win the elections on the streets of Ghana and not at the ballot box…that is the militancy I am talking about. I told them that I, Paul Afoko, as chairman of the NPP, would never allow them to take the party on that crazy route.

“In the presence of the Serbians, I admonished our party people and asked them to leave the hotel immediately and go home.”

Afoko’s revelations come weeks after three South African ex-Police Officers, were arrested by the security agencies for training private security personnel of NPP’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The three, Major Chris Hazis (rtd), 54; Warrant Officer Denver Dwayhe, 33, and Captain Mlungiseli Jokani, 45 were subsequently charged with five counts of conspiracy to commit crime Contrary to section 23 of act 29, unlawful training and Making false declaration contrary section 52(1) of immigration service act 2000.

They were later granted bail and deported by the Ghana Immigration Service.

Afoko, was suspended alongside the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe, a national vice chairperson for working against the fortunes of the party ahead of the 2016 elections.

The trio are in court challenging their suspension.
