Montie 3-Felix Kwakye Ofosu Writes

Imprisonment for speech is totally incompatible with democratic practice. The Right to free expression was not put in the Constitution because it was believed that citizens will say pleasant things about public officials. It was in fact put there so those with power cannot exact retribution against people whose comments offend them. Many countries are moving away from the use of contempt powers to imprison citizens for expressing their views. That you find a comment despicable is no reason why you must support the imprisonment of citizens for it.We either grant freedoms as a democratic state or we do not grant them.We cannot give freedoms with the right hand and take it away with the left especially on account of anger over what another citizen believes or says.
