Mobile money vendor collapses over GHC6k scam

The Sekondi police are currently investigating an MTN mobile money scam which caused a vendor to collapse on Wednesday (September 13, 2017) evening.
According to Accra-based Starr FM, the mobile money vendor Emmanuel Dadzie was asked by a customer Mena Ekua to transfer an amount of GHC2000 each to three different mobile contacts summing up to GHC6000.

After Dadzie demanded the money, Mena Ekua told him she had come to transfer the money to the contacts because she was called by someone who claimed to work with MTN and that she had won a raffle with MTN and needed to transfer the cash in order to redeem her cash package.
Dadzie was shocked and immediately collapsed. He was immediately rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

The mother of Dadzie said Mena Ekua’s family has decided to pay the money.
However, the police arrested Mena Ekua and she was subsequently granted bail.
