Ministry of Health denies shortage of medical doctors in the country

The Ministry of Health says there is no shortage of employment for medical doctors in the country.

According to the Ministry, doctors have been refusing postings to areas they consider as remote and rural.

The Minister for Health, Alex Segbefia, who was responding to concerns raised by doctors over government’s inability to engage new doctors after completion of their training said, the Ministry places priority on employment issues of medical doctors in the country.

At the 58th Annual General Conference of the Ghana Medical Association at Ho, the Minister for Health Mr. Alex Segbefia, encouraged doctors to accept postings to other parts of the country where their services are needed most.
