Minister’s Thugs Beat Abronye DC

The open goon violence that goon squads of the ruling New Patriotic Party have been allowed afflict Ghanaians with, has been escalated to the party itself.

The Brong Ahafo regional Youth Organizer, Kwame Baffoe, alias Abronye DC has been hospitalized after thugs from his own party pounced on him over the weekend.

Abronye, a loud mouthed rubble rouser, sustained among other things, a fractured arm after he was ambushed in Atebubu.

He is said to have gone on visitation to the house of the Atebubu District Chief Executive, Edward Owusu, when a group of goons ambushed him.

His assailants who are suspected to be thug loyalists of the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Kweku Asomah Cheremeh.

Eyewitness account available on the issue tells of how among other things, Abronye DC had been bludgeoned with a metal frame used for mounting canopies.

According to the accounts, after the attack, the Brong Ahafo regional youth organizer of the NPP had become immobilized.

He had sustained a broken arm and other injuries to his person. It had to take some party colleagues to convey him to a hospital with a taxi.

The thugs who attacked him are believed to have done so on behalf of the Brong Ahafo regional Minister, Kweku Adomah Cheremeh. They are believed to have attacked him in retaliation of corruption accusations that Abronye DC has publicly leveled against the Minister.

In November last year, Abronye made a clarion call on President Akufo-Addo to investigate the Brong Ahafo regional Minister for a number of alleged corrupt practices.

Among others, Abronye had accused the man of taking bribes from contractors and promising them contracts, taking bribes from people hoping to become DCEs and promising to help them get the jobs, buying a building belonging to the scandal prone DKM financial services and puting his personal law firm in charge of legal affairs at all district assemblies in the Brong Ahafo region.

The attack is an escalation of a sub culture of goon violence that has taken hold in the country to the ruling NPP itself whose goons have been allowed a free range to perpetrate violence against Ghanaians.
