Mind your own business – Hanna Tetteh tells top UK politician

The Outreach Director for the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, Colin Bloom should mind his own business and focus on the challenges confronting the Conservative party and how to fix those challenges, Hanna Tetteh, Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has said.

Mr Bloom appeared to have incurred the wrath of Ms Tetteh following his public statement to the effect that Ghana needs to change government ahead of this year’s elections and that the people of Ghana deserved better.

Speaking at the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU) ‘Freedom Forum’ organised by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra last week, Mr Bloom said : “Those of us in the Conservative Party, we can choose where in the world we work; we can work in the Caribbean, we can work in Latin America, we can work in Europe, we can work in Africa…we choose to work in Ghana because we believe in the man [Nana Akufo-Addo] who is going to speak to you next; we believe he is a man of both great intelligence and also great integrity.”

“[He is] someone, who will transform Ghana; he is a man who will, we hope and pray later this year, take on the leadership of this nation…because we know and you know that Ghana deserves better.”

He further described Nana Akufo-Addo as the “the next president of Ghana”.

Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issue on Saturday June 2, Ms Tetteh said: “My reaction to Mr Bloom is that it is none of his business. At the moment the Conservative party has challenges of its own; we wish them all the best as they deal with those challenges. He should deal with theirs and leave ours for the Ghanaian people to decide.”
