MG Radio Stations Recognized in RPT Nominations

Barely one year after rolling out their radio stations in Accra (Onua 95.1 and 3FM) 3 presenters and programmes from the MG Radio stable have been recognized and nominated for awards by RPT, the high profile Radio and TV industry awards.
Christian Agyei Frimpong, host of ‘AnigyeƐ MmrƐ’ and Gabby Arkoh who hosts ‘Aseda MmrƐ’ on Onua FM as well as Miriam Osei Agyeman whose mid-morning show, ‘Urban Blends’ airs on 3FM have been penciled for awards.

THE THREE PROGRAMMES NOMINATED
ANIGYEE MMRE
Entertainment talk show with lots of hits and contemporary music led by Christian Agyei Frimpong a young trendy host. The programme airs on Thursdays and Saturdays. The contents include:
• Tit bits of the entertainment industry
• Hot gossips and celebrity lifestyles etc
• Latest tracks and movies
• Trending issues on social media
The programme also has four main segments namely;
• News review (major issues making headlines from entertainment newspapers, websites and blogs),
• Fresh on the microphone (interview for new artists),
• Celebrity interview (profile celebrities) and the discussion of the main topic for the day.
• Panel discussion with pundits and big wigs in the industry

ASEDA MMRE
Gabby’s programme on Onua 95.1 FM is a mid-morning musical show from Monday to Friday with contents of local Gospel music to encourage singing along by listeners. It has motivational messages and food for thoughts.

URBAN BLEND
Miriam anchors the programme to provide a blend of local and international music for the working professional’s afternoon relaxation.
The differentiation is in the choice of music and the kind of relevant information given. The first half is the Urban Blend and the second half is the Midday Flava. The show airs Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm. With her DJ – DJ JayDee, Miriam provides a soothing blend of lcoal and international music, talk, tit bits and a lot of fun. Her celebrity interview segment has had the likes of EL, Becca, Okyeame Kwame, Akoo Nana, Adinah, Adoma, Akesse Brempong, Micah Stampley and Joe Mettle.

THE MG GROUP
MG Radio started in September 2015 and has four radio stations – ;3FM 92.7, Onua 95.1 FM in Accra, Connect FM in Takoradi and Akoma FM in Kumasi. The MG Radio stations are news and current affairs oriented, reaching the middle class as well the mass market.
According to the GM Mr Daniel Amartey-Amarh MG Radio objective is to encourage and inspire the positive use of radio and to offer the listening community a voice and promote personal progress and positive community interaction with contents that span from News, Politics and current affairs, Law, Finance, the economy, Health, Nutrition, Family Life, Social Development-Innovations among others.
Mr Emmanuel Efo Kwame Dzakpasu, the Director of Brands and Events at MG Radio is confident that, the comprehensive MG platforms, including TV3, APL and MG Digital can take the commanding heights of the Ghanaian media because of what the platforms offer. He, for instance mentions the Elections Command Center as one big platform designed by the Group to offer authentic and reliable information about the December 7 elections with speed across all it platforms.
