The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle constituency in the western region who doubles as Ghana’s Petroleum Minister Dr Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah provided relief items to the tidal waves victims.
The relief items estimated at the cost of 90,000 Ghana cedis.
Hundreds of people living along the coast of the Ellembelle, Jomoro and Nzema East districts in Nzema of the western region were on Sunday 17th April 2016 displayed by tidal waves.
The relief items were included roofing sheets, mattresses, food stuffs, blankets and among others.
Receiving the items at Ankobra community, the Ellembelle district NADMO coordinator Mr Maxwell Essien thanked the government and the MP for the area for the quick intervention they have shown to the victims.
Mr Essien pledged to the affected communities for smooth and transparency sharing of the items.
At Ankobra community, Dr Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah expressed shock at the way the community has affected seriously by the waves.
“We will continue to show our support to our dear brothers and sisters along the coast”, Dr Buah emphasized.
Speaking to Ghanapoliticsonline.com’s Reporter Daniel Kaku, the folks at Esiama, Asanda, Axim and Ankobra appealed to government to provide them sea defence for protection of their lives and properties.
Information gathered by Ghanapoliticsonline.com indicates that the folks at Ankobra community have been advised by various government to relocate from the seashore but they have refused to do so. This is not the first time the Ankobra community has been affected by the tidal waves, every year its happen to them.
