MASLOC DISBURSES GHC888,400 TO 89 WOMEN GROUPS IN UPPER WEST REGION

A total of Ghc886,400 has been disbursed by the Micro Finance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC )to 89 women groups drawn from the Upper West region.

The disbursement which was targeted at rural folks was to help improve the lives of these women in line with the President’s Vision of Transforming Ghana and Changing lives.

The 89 groups represents a total of 2,225 women who were selected upon their applications from the Jirapa , Lambussie,Nandom ,Daffiama,Issa and Bussu communities of the region.

The rest were from districts such as Wa West ,Wa Central, Wa East,Lawra,Sissala East and West who are to use the loans to expand their businesses and improve their source of livelihood.

The deputy Chief Executive officer of MASLOC ,Mr Mustapha Batalima Abubakar ,who presented the cheques of various sums to the beneficiaries urged the women to pay back the loan in the stipulated time.

In his explanation, the loan is a revolving fund and that other women in other communities can only benefit when the current beneficiaries pay back in order to process the applications of other applicants .

According to the deputy CEO,the coming of MASLOC to the other part of the country was the President’s directive to make access to loans easy to those at the grassroots who ordinarily will find it difficult to take small loans from the traditional banks to boost their businesses which will in the long run enhance their standard of living .

The Deputy CEO was accompanied by the Head of Operations at MASLOC, Mr.Daniel Axim, the Northern Sector Manager, Alhaji Amin Mohammed and the Upper West Regional Manger, Mr. Karim Dakurah. The Member of Parliament for Nadowli Kaleo Constituency who is also the Majority Leader of Parliament, Mr. Alban Bagbin helped the Deputy CEO to present cheques to beneficiaries at Nadowli.

Whiles in the Upper West region , the deputy Chief Executive officer , Mr Abubakar and his team from MASLOC first paid a courtesy call on the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Alhaji Aminu Sulemana and his Deputy, Hon. Dr. Alpha Museibu.
The four-day official visit to the Upper West Region to disburse the loans afforded the deputy CEO the opportunity to interact with beneficiaries and potential beneficiaries on the best practices to help strengthen the Institution and the women in their businesses.
