Majeed Waris begins French Ligue 1 campaign on losing note

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris began his French Ligue 1 campaign on losing note after his Lorient side succumbed to a 3-2 away defeat to Caen.

Waris had set up Lorient’s opening goal in the 5th minute as Cameroonian Bejamin Moukandjo finished off his effort.

The 27-year-old Moukandjo cushioned the lead 14 minutes from the spot.

But Senegalese midfielder Zargo Toure was sent off on 26 minutes, and this weakened the rank of the Oranges.

Caen scored twice before the end of the first-half before Ivan Santini won the game for Caen on 67 minutes.
