MAHAMA’S ACHIEVEMENTS ‘DWARFING’ AKUFO-ADDO

There are no indices anywhere in the world, by which the administration of President Akufo-Addo can be measured as performing anywhere close to what the NDC under President Mahama achieved its four years. The achievements of former President Mahama and other NDC administrations completely dwarf the wasted years of the New Patriotic Party.

The list of achievements of the Mahama administration, and indeed past NDC administrations, are too numerous to mention and completely dwarf the wasted years of Npp’s governance. The Akufo-Addo government can waste all the nation’s resources on its media cabal and its propagandists to tell lies about its opponents and misrepresent facts about the economy, the President and his party would soon realise that it is too late to be blaming the past administration without fulfilling the promises they made prior to the 2016 election. Ghanaians are suffering under the weight of the Akufo-Addo government’s anti – people policies they have been forced to live and do business under. The professional propagandists of government who have been assigned the role of midinforming the public about happenings in the country and crediting achievements of the Mahama administration to the failed Akufo-Addo government, will realise too late that blaming the ills of the country and their failure on the past administration while doing nothing to fulfil the promises they made for clear one and a half year will not save them on the day of judgement. And the day of reckoning is very much at hand.

It is shameful and embarrassing that having been in power close to two years with massive borrowing ( over GHC 40 billion), goodwill, huge oil revenue, revenue generating policies bequeathed to it by the past administration, the Akufo-Addo government is unable to point to cogent and data driven achievements. The Presidency via the National Communication Authority are spending billions of cedis of the taxpayer’s money on designing and implementing a communication strategy around massive propaganda, half truth and outright falsehood in an attempt to continually deceive the Ghanaian people.

The infrastructural base the NDC administration under Mahama developed across the country is impressive. From world class highways and interchange to power supply, wide Gas and water grids and broadband network up to health facilities at all levels. By running a policy driven government, President Mahama removed discretion. This was further reinforced through technology, with eGovernment initiatives ensuring easy, effective and efficient governance his four years. Instead of focusing on adding more to what it inherited, the Akufo-Addo government is spending billions of cedis on propaganda networking to propagate its vague and complicated arguments just to confuse the masses they promised heaven during their campaign.

The were the Ghana’s ratings before the Npp administration took over

-The best in human development index in West Africa

-The best and safest business destination in West Africa

-Second to South Africa in terms of power supply and expansion

-The most attractive environment for investors

– Rated the best (Gender balance) in Africa

– World Bank projected the economy to grow by 8.3% in 2018 because of investments the Mahama administration made in the various sectors

– More international airlines applied to start operation in Ghana

– Rated number one in road infrastructure development in West Africa

-Corruption dropped according to Transparency International’s 2016 report

-Rated among the best in Africa ( Press Freedom)

Apart from these international landmark achievements, Ghana’s image soared on the international stage because of the leadership skill his predecessor, John Mahama exhibited in office of which he is the beneficiary today. He recently received the Gender parity award and co-chairing the Sustainable development program. All these were made possible because of the leadership skill his predecessor exhibited on the international stage. Few days after taking over, the United Nations cautioned Ghana about hooliganism and vigilantism, the world bank continue to downgrade us, corruption has increased according to Transparency International’s latest report, Ghana has been rated down by Amnesty International because of brutalities being unleashed on journalists, investors are leaving our shores etc. We’ve just been cautioned about empty slogarism and deceitful promises by renowned economists. The image of the country continue to drop sharply because of massive corruption in the administration.

AKUFO-ADDO AND MAHAMA’S GREENBOOK-

Then Candidate Akufo-Addo, Dr Bawumia and their propagandists, described projects in the Greenbook as ‘photoshop’ and repeated this wicked lie on their platform to confuse Ghanaians. Candidate Akufo-Addo made everything possible to rundown all the achievements of the then government. After failing his photoshop propaganda, he moved to the realm of cost inflation propaganda only for his own friend and his party’s member of parliament to expose his hypocrisy and lies about the Ridge Hospital and the Kasoa interchange. Unable to withstand the popularity of his opponents because of the latter’s achievements, he started promising heaven including the 350 new secondary schools, free galamsey operation, free secondary education, one constituency one million dollar, free chocolate drink for all pupils and students, restoration of trainees’ allowance etc.

Nana Akufo-Addo who openly rubbished all the achievements in the Greenbook, has assigned himself the role of projects commissioner- crediting to himself, the very projects he claimed were mere photoshop. He began this shameful trick with the Wa Water project, the decision by Air France to operate in Ghana as a result of the upgrading of the Kotoka International Airport, the housing projects completed under Mahama etc.

THE HO AIRPORT

President Mahama cut sod for commencement of work on the airport in the Volta Region at Titrinu, near Ho. It is a $25 million project which was funded by the Ghana Airport Company Limited. It includes an airport city with residential apartments, hotels, health and conference centres and entertainment joints. The project was executed by Amandi Holding Limited under the slogan “Ho Airport- The New Destination”

President Akufo-Addo’s own friend Togbe Afede described the project as a “pleasant surprise to the region”. He also told President Mahama and the people of the region that “There can’t be any better symbol of development without an airport in the regional capital”. I am told the project is going to be commissioned and as usual, communicators of government and government’s propaganda are out there shamelessly claiming credit. Isn’t it funny? Who told them the people in the region were off this planet when the Former President cut the sod, and when work at the place was ongoing. That how governments easily lose elections. They suddenly think are wiser than all who are outside their podium and address the masses as if they are mere artifacts. What they should be thinking about, is how they going to explain why after the huge borrowing, debt reprofiling and all the assistance, local and international, were unable to do quarter of what Mahama did.
