President John Mahama Storms Eastern Region Tomorrow

The Eastern Region, is the next stop of the President, John Dramani Mahama, following his successful three-day working visit to the Western Region, as part of his “Accounting To The People Tour” last week.

Just like he did in the Western Region, the president, will tomorrow storm the region and in the company of the new Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong, tour the region and interact with the chiefs and people, inspect on-going projects, and commission completed ones.

He is also expected to address mini durbars to be held in his honour in some of the communities.

President Mahama, is of the firm belief that his government has done a lot in the past three years in the area of roads, electricity, potable water

and educational facilities, among others.

The region, just like the others, have had a number of projects ongoing, common among them being the popular Cocoa Roads under the auspices of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD). The roads are being constructed in the six cocoa growing regions in the country namely; Western, Eastern, Volta, Brong Ahafo, Ashanti and Central region.

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared “Operation 50 – 50” in the Eastern Region, which is to split the votes with it opponent, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and President Mahama’s visit is to boost the morale of the regional executives of his party, as they prepare for this year’s elections in November.

The Herald’s information is that, an area such as the Afram Plains, which is described as one of the food baskets of the country, will host President Mahama.

He will be accompanied by some ministers, regional party executives, and especially appointees, including District and municipal chief executives .
Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, recently announced that in the coming weeks, the rest of the 10 regions, will be toured by the president, ahead of the vigorous November 7 presidential and parliamentary campaign.

During his three-day tour of the Western Region, which ended last Thursday, the president undertook a number of activities, including commissioning projects, which are going to affect the lives of the people positively.

He held meetings with the chiefs and people in some of the communities and gave an account of the performance of his government.

President Mahama, also performed a ceremony to convert polytechnics into technical universities at the Takoradi Polytechnic, now Takoradi Technical University, as well as inspection of ongoing development projects and inauguration of completed ones.

He also inspected on-going fisheries projects in Takoradi, including a landing beach and inaugurated an ultra-modern cold storage facility in Shama.

He also commissioned a hostel facility for the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) in Takwa.
