Speaking at a durbar at Anloga after a meeting with chiefs and leaders of the area, Mr. Mahama noted that the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), has already begun some preliminary works on the proposed Volta Basin Development Authority and government will soon set up an implementation committee to execute the task.
He, however, hinted that the proposed development authority and a proposal for the construction of a sea port at Keta has been captured in the NDC’s 2016 campaign manifesto ahead of the November 7, polls.
The President also informed the chiefs and people that parliament has given approval for commencement of oil exploration in the Keta basin, which he noted will open job avenues for the teeming unemployed youth in the area.
