Mahama needs four more years – Nsawam Sekyiromhene

The chief of Nsawam Sekyikrom has predicted victory for President John Mahama ahead of the November 7 presidential polls.

Nana Osei Anka IV explains that the development and transformation churned out by the president and his government makes him favourite among all the other candidates.

He was addressing a delegation of National Democratic Congress (NDC) officials and government functionaries led by the Chief of Staff and the national chairman of the NDC, Kofi Ofori Portuphy.

The party functionaries were on an outreach program to sensitize party followers to take a keen interest in the upcoming limited registration exercise where the chief praised the president for gradually fixing the problems facing the economy.

“They say as chiefs we shouldn’t involve ourselves in politics. I am not doing politics but, the fact is that my people and I are very satisfied with the progress and achievements made so far by President Mahama,” he explained.

Nana Anka IV mentioned fixing of the Nsawam-Suhum highway, the construction of cocoa roads in the Akyem enclave and the community day SHS at Nyanoa and the Nsawam water project as his basis for the endorsement.

“If for nothing at all, the government has constructed our roads in Akyem, provided us with an SHS in Nyanoa and given Nsawam and its environs water. Even though we recently had some water problems, the point is that they have established a water plant for us which we didn’t have at first…so I Nana Osei Anka and my subjects are voting for president Mahama this year,” he declared.

Nana Anka’s endorsement of the president’s second term bid comes at the back of the recent endorsement of the president by the acting Kwahumanhene, even though some political commentators have condemned the act.

The delegation also paid a courtesy call on the chief of Nsawam-Adoagyiri and the zongo chiefs.

The Adoagyirihene appealed to the Chief of Staff to intervene in a land dispute between them and a private entrepreneur.

“As we speak if want to embark on any development we have no land to do so. My appeal to your office is that intervene and let us have our lands back,” he said.

Kofi Ofori Portuphy assured the area of government support. According to him, his party will never take the support of the Muslim community for granted.
