The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has revealed that President John Mahama financially supported Nii Odoi Mensah’s surgery in China.

The President, the minister noted, gave the former president of the Ghana Actors Guild money to support his kidney surgery.

There were rumours that the family needed $68,000 to bring the mortal remains of the late actor back home from China.

In response, President John Dramani Mahama promised to do whatever it takes to ensure that the body of the late former president of the Ghana Actors Guild, Nii Odoi Mensah, is flown home for burial.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

The Minister of Tourism made this known when she visited the family of the late actor at this Grada Estate residence.

She was accompanied by some members of the Ghana Actors Guild.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare said the president did his best to support the late actor but God knew best.

She said, “I think the president has done his best. He will continue to help as and when the need arises. In the case of Nii Odoi Mensah, when somebody is sick and you give financial support, you don’t come on TV and say that you gave A and B and C.” “The family will not deny the fact the late Odoi Mensah got financial assistance from the president. My Chief Director and I personally gave the money to him and so the government helped. It is not that he is dead now the president is bringing the body,” the Minister revealed.

“When he was going [for the surgery] the president gave him money to support his medical treatment,” she added.

Nii Odoi Mensah, who was the former President of the Ghana Actors Guild, passed away Tuesday, April 12 in China where he had gone for a kidney transplant.
