Mahama Commissions ‘Atta Mills School’ To Kick-Start Free SHS Policy (PHOTO)

President John Mahama has officially commissioned the first of his promised 200 secondary schools at Otuam in the Central region to kick-start his free SHS policy.

The four-storey state of the art school is named after the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

Sources say the finance ministry has released more than GHC12 million cedis for the implementation of the programme.

The President made the promise during the 2012 electioneering. More than 300,000 day-students are expected to benefit from the programme beginning this academic year.

Some of the new schools are to be built in Northern regional districts such as Kpandai Bunkpurugu in Bunkpurugu, Namong in Yunyoo, Bamboi in Bole.
