Mahama appoints new Chief of Defence Staff

A major shakeup has hit the top hierarchy of the Ghana Armed Forces as President John Dramani Mahama appoints a new Chief of Defence Staff.

AVM Samson Michael-Oje replaces Vice Admiral Matthew Quarshie as the Chief of Defence Staff, an official communication from the Flagstaff House announced.

Vice Admiral Quarshie has been appointed an Ambassador Designate.

The new Chief of Air Staff is Air Commodore Maxwell Mantsebi-Tei Nagai while Commodore Peter Kofi Faido has been named as Chief of Naval Staff.

Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters becomes Brigadier General Sampson Kudjo Adeti, but the Chief of Army Staff, however, remains Major General Richard Kwame Opoku Adusei.
