Limited Voter Registration Takes Off

The Director of Administration of the Electoral Commission, Christian Owusu Parry says 3,500 registration teams are being deployed to designated centres in 6,156 electoral areas for the limited voter registration which starts today.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Parry cautioned that the ten day exercise is limited, and not open to all Ghanaians.

The Director of Administration at the EC also gave an insight into modalities for the registration which ends on the 8th of next month.

Meanwhile, some political observer groups and political parties have also expressed optimism about the outcome of the limited voters’ registration exercise.

Speaking to us, the entities indicated their readiness to help the EC to conduct the exercise in a peaceful manner.

First is Programme Officer for CODEO, Rhoda Osei Afful said her organisation will deploy about 250 observers to the centres.

She said the exercise is an important one, therefore they will assist to ensure it goes on smoothly.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

Director of Communication of the PPP, Paa Kow Ackon said his party is ready to partner the EC to make the exercise fruitful.

NDC’s Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said his party is ready for the exercise.

He said representatives will be deployed to monitor and ensure the success of the exercise.

Communications Director of the CPP, Abdul Rauf Tanko also expressed his party’s readiness to lend its support towards that cause.

Like the earlier speakers, the National Women’s Organiser of the NPP, Otiko Afisa Djaba said the NPP is committed to ensuring the success of the exercise.
