Let’s keep the peace….Christian leaders appeal

Religious leaders in the country have admonished Ghanaians to use the celebration of Easter to promote peace and ensure incident-free general elections, this year.

They urged citizens to also be tolerant and be decorous in their utterances during the campaign period to avoid chaos.

They religious leaders gave the advice in their Ester messages in separate interviews with the Ghanaian Times in Accra.

The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong said the story of Easter is a vivid description of what Jesus Christ did for humankind and His death on the cross of Calvary.

He said “our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, while on earth, lived a life that did not only benefit His generation and the people around Him, but the many generations after His death and resurrection”.

Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni said, Jesus’ life was focused on ensuring that, generations that would come after Him thrive, and this explained why He had to make the most expensive sacrifice by dying on te cross.

“As we reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus this Easter, we must be mindful of the kind of world we are passing on the generations that will come after us,” he said.

Rev Opuni Frimpong said “We should strive to build, and pass on a world that is just, sustainable, provides opportunities for all”.
