Kwesi Nyantakyi reveals he will NOT seek re-election as Ghana FA president in 2019

Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has announced he will not stand for re-election when his tenure expires in 2019.

Nyantakyi was elected into office in December 2005 and has served three terms already.

At the last election, he stood unopposed and it does not look he has competition when it comes to local FA elections.

The astute lawyer has gone on to make strides at CAF where is an Executive Committee member and also a member of the new FIFA Council.

Nyantakyi believes he has paid his dues and will not resurface on the local football scene when his reign expires in two years time.

”Indeed, I have no plans to entrench myself in the position as it is a privileged post; at a point, I would have to leave and there is no better time to do so than when the applaud is very loud,” Nyantakyi told the Graphic Sports.

”I don’t think I’m the only person capable of leading Ghana football. I can do so much but not everything. Besides, I think we all must take a page from the wind of change blowing in FIFA on reforms which among things place a limit on the term of president.”

His positions on the CAF ExCo and FIFA Council will expire in 2021.
